Schiphol International currently has participating interests in New York and Brisbane, and is party to a management contract in Aruba.

AirportCity development
In order to strengthen the competitive position of affiliated airports and further improve the operating results of the airport business, Schiphol International uses the experience of Amsterdam Airport Schiphol in implementing the integrated AirportCity concept. This concept provides for the coordinated development and mutual reinforcement of aviation and non-aviation activities. Schiphol International supplies all its products and services on the basis of the integrated AirportCity concept.

Schiphol International provides an integrated range of products and services based upon the integrated AirportCity concept:

AirportCity concept
According to the vision of Schiphol Group, an airport is more than just a point of arrival and departure for passengers, it is an AirportCity. An AirportCity is a dynamic environment in which people and businesses, logistics and shops, information and entertainment come together and strengthen each other. Not only is it an efficient, multi-modal transport hub, it is also a location which offers its visitors all the services they require, 24 hours a day. Schiphol Group has acquired extensive experience within the Netherlands and abroad in developing and implementing the AirportCity concept, and has helped these airports to tap new sources of income originating, amongst other things, from the development of commercial activities and real estate at and around the airports concerned.

Non-aviation related activities (retail, real estate, etc.) provide the airport with considerable added value, both for clients and for the airport company itself. However, aviation-related activities form the basis for the success of any AirportCity. These are important aspects to which Schiphol International devotes a great deal of attention in its global activities.

Operational excellence & efficiency
As a result of the highly competitive environment in which Amsterdam Airport Schiphol finds itself, Schiphol Group has acquired extensive experience in establishing a highly efficient process without compromising the level of quality and the requirements of its customers, such as airlines and passengers. Schiphol Group is focused on establishing a customer-friendly process in consultation with all parties concerned. The implementation of innovative solutions plays an important role in this.

Master plan
The key to creating a successful AirportCity starts with a well thought out master plan. Schiphol considers it to be of paramount importance that a master plan be an integrated plan in which both aviation and non-aviation developments are incorporated and harmonised. In view of the huge impact of investments on the financial results, Schiphol Group has specialised in just-in-time investments, whereby it is continuously looking to make optimum use of the available capacity.

Airline marketing
Amsterdam Airport Schiphol has acquired international fame for its successful airline marketing activities. Over the years, Amsterdam Airport Schiphol has managed to continuously expand its network of airlines and, as a result, currently benefits from a network of some 90 airlines travelling to over 260 destinations worldwide. Amsterdam Airport Schiphol therefore also has extensive knowledge of the airline market and a broad range of resources to support the route planning departments of these airlines. Furthermore, Amsterdam Airport Schiphol has a large database containing passenger-related statistics and seating capacities. In combination with the 100,000 face-to-face passenger interviews conducted every year, this provides a powerful and reliable source for analysis and recommendations.

Stakeholder management
An important factor for success in the development of a strong airport is effective interaction and cooperation between all stakeholders on and around the airport, the airport itself and the airlines which form part of the network.
