The Consumer International Department is responsible for selling the AirportCity concept of Amsterdam Airport Schiphol internationally. To that end, the department establishes commercial partnerships with airports all over the world with a view to achieving the strategic objectives of Schiphol Group: to spread risk and increase revenues from non-aviation activities.
The AirportCity concept is a model for the development, implementation and management of commercial activities at airports. The aim is to surpass consumers' expectations of the airport experience, resulting in a positive effect on consumer spending and passenger satisfaction.
Consumer International works closely with all departments of Amsterdam Airport Schiphol. It also has successful partnerships with Stockholm Arlanda Airport (Sweden), JFK Airport (New York, USA), Brisbane International Airport (Australia), Reina Beatrix Airport (Aruba) and Soekarno-Hatta International Airport (Indonesia).
The department is continually establishing new partnerships and broadening existing ones. It has, for example, successfully expanded the activities of the joint venture with Stockholm-Arlanda Airport. Research into establishing new international partnerships is also ongoing. Consumer International is currently investigating whether collaboration is possible with various airports in China, including Guangzhou. Investigations are also underway to identify airports in the United States that satisfy Consumer International's criteria for a good commercial partnership. In addition, Consumer International is investigating, in collaboration with Dartagnan, how Dartagnan products and the Privium concept can be sold to other airports worldwide.
